OK – so no post up until now. So what do I intend to cover on this blog?
Well as the title implies it is a collections of my ramblings on society, politics, IT (because that’s my job), books, films, tv, sport and anything else that crosses my mind.
I don’t expect everybody to agree with me, especially when I am in one of my grumpy old man moods, which occur frequently these days.
Politically I would say I was left of centre, though more to the left than centre. However, personal politics are complicated and many of my views span much of the political spectrum.
I am an atheist (not agnostic) although I still believe religion has a place in society, have educated my children as Catholics and fully respects the rights of an individual to practice a religion. I expect the same respect of my choice not to believe.
I am a West Ham United fan, because I grew up there. I have little time for the fake Mancs and Scousers of Ireland and cannot take their like seriously. I do respect the right of anybody to support a team of their choice for whatever reason, but do simply find it humorous to hear somebody from Dublin, Cork or Galway refer to Manchester United or Liverpool as though it represented them somehow.
I’m English although I have lived in Ireland since 1997. I don’t see myself as Irish but love living in Ireland an don’t ever intend to return to England. I have views on Ireland and believe I have the same rights as any other tax-paying citizen to express those views even if they are sometimes critical.
